iFS smtp restrictions
As I understand from other postings on this forum by default it
is not allowed for users to send messages using oracle iFS smtp
server if user connects from remote host.
But in Oracle iFS documentation it is said that different client
software can be used to recieve and send messages (Outlook
Express, Netscape Messenger, Pine ...). So how to send messages
using iFS smtp if connected from remote hosts? If its not
possible then why to have this protocol support?
I think that iFS is meant more for Intranet use, therefore
security restrictions shouldn't be so strict (Intranet still is
behind firewall). Maybe I'm wrong.
This is error message I get when I try to send message from my
Outlook Express email client:
An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'MyIFSAccount', Server:
'<serverhost.domain>', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421
<serverhost.domain>/<serverIP> Service not available for
'<userhost.domain>/<userIP>', Port: 2500, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 421,
Error Number: 0x800CCC67
Thank you for your opinion/answer in advance,
