IDOC to IDOC using IWay Adapter?

jfbaro-JavaNetMar 14 2012 — edited Mar 19 2012
Hi,

We need to integrate two applications, one being SAP ERP and the other one being a 3rd party application written in Java.

Those two applications use an SAP "API" called LE-IDW, and usually there is no middleware between them.

LE-IDW uses IDOCs over asynchronous RFC.

After investigating a bit and considering the volumes this integration will handle, we decided to use OSB as Middleware.

Now, is there any way we could use OSB (in conjunction with IWAY adapters) so that we don't need to change any piece of software at both ends? Basically we need to configure OSB and develop some code in the Middleware and that's fine, but we wouldn't like to change anything in either of the applications.

Is that possible? What are the risks of this approach in comparison to the more traditional web service integration?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
