ide.user.dir

Hi,
I`m kinda new to this forum and to JDeveloper. I`m trying to set it up right now on a new server for a multiuser environment.

I`ve read all the docs available at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/10.1.3.3/install.html#homedirectory and tried to fix the ide.user.dir according to this tutorial, but unfortunately with no success :(

Here`s what I`ve tried on Windows 2003 Server R2 and Windows XP Pro (both systems are "fresh and clean"):
-setting environment variables (JDEV_USER_DIR) by "my computer">properties
-setting environment variables (JDEV_USER_DIR) in cmd by "set"
-setting environment variables in my login script by both "set" and regedit /s ... and I`ve tried both hex and "normal" regedit values for:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Environment] "JDEV_USER_DIR"=........................

Still, no go... JDeveloper, when launched, doesn`t show anything in Help>About>ide.user.dir ... As a matter of fact, it doesn`t show a thing by default which makes me wonder - what am I doing wrong...

I`ve googled, tried searching this forum... no help :(

I`m beginning to wonder if there was something I`ve missed when installing the JDev... As I understand simply unzipping it from the downloaded zip is pretty much all as it goes for the install. Then there comes the configuration and that`s where I`ve stopped with this problem.

Any suggestions? I appreciate any help/support.
