ICMP Host Unreachable

Hey guys I am very new with using Solaris and I am being asked to troubleshoot a box wih solaris9 on it. I am trying to set it up for access on our companies Network and right now I am stuck. Currently when I try to ping anything I get an error message that says:

ICMP Host Unreachable from gateway <hostname> (HostIP) for icmp from <hostname> (HostIP) to <targetname> (target IP).

I don't know if it is just me or is it strange that the gateway is the same name as the box I am trying to ping from? Anyway I cannot ping the box from anywhere else either. Any suggestions or hints will be very much appreciated!
