IBM AIX RISC System/6000 Error: 28, ORA-01114 and ORA-27063

We are facing this error every once a month, the problem is solved by making free space in this file system.

This happens as GATHER_STATS_JOB executes but i don't understand why?
Has anyone faced a similar problem?
