I want to replace existing BIG disk with smaller ones but I get ORA-15410

outonDec 11 2018 — edited Dec 12 2018

Dear experts,

I have a diskgroup with 2 disks of 650 GB normal redundancy and I need it to grow...

The storage team gave us large disks in the past. Later we have to request new disks with the estimated annual growth.

But now that Oracle 12c requires that the disks are of a similar size they have decided to change the policy and that obviously the growth will be with disks of 100 GB.

So I have been provisioned with 16 small 100 GB disks to replace the 2 large 650 GB disks.

Now I run into error ORA-15410: Disks in disk group DISKGROUP_NAME do not have equal size when trying to add new disks.

Any idea how to replace the big disks with smaller ones?

And of course, I am required to do it with minimal disruption of service and maintaining diskgroup name.

Regards,

Jose R:
