I should use applets or javascript?

The site http://www.i-see.net/bindows/ has a good Graphical User Interface Toolkit for writing rich client side web applications.

However the Bindows Interface is build on javascript. Considering the time loading and the time execution what is better to use, javascript or applets for build pages ?
