i need a clarification on named user plus license
768724May 27 2010 — edited May 27 2010okay here's the deal. we're going to get a license for oracle database 11g standard edition one. we're going to have 1 DBA and 2 Developers working on a web-based application with php. we're going to put the database on windows server 2003 and we're going to use apache to host the web application (on the same machine). there will be about 10-15 users using the web application. how many users license do i need?
i'm thinking we only need 5. the users are:
- The Apache/PHP hosted on the same machine.
- The DBA (who will also help develop).
- The 2 Developers.
- Maybe the IT Manager, I don't know. There's 1 left and we need to buy at least 5.
The users (who will be people from the purchasing, sales, marketing and warehouse department) don't know anything about oracle and they're not actually connecting to the oracle server. They're connecting to the Apache server (who connects to oracle server). They're not getting the data straight from Oracle. Apache/PHP is the one getting the data and show it on the users' web browser.
Am I thinking this right? Or do I need to buy license for 20 users?
