I do not want to clear the screen or refresh the page

Hi all. I'm new to Oracle Apex. I'm on 4.2. I used the wizard to create a form based off of a table. Instead of the traditional Create and Update button. I would like to use one button that functions as an "upsert". So, it would create as well as save. Once the user clicks the "Save" button, I want all of their data to remain on the page, in case they want to make additional changes or add new information. How would you recommend implementing this? Can I use oracle's merge statement for the upsert? Do I need to do anything special to keep the page from refreshing?
