I could not insert Unicode characters like '≤' in the oracle database

I could not insert Unicode characters like '≤' in the oracle database eventhough the NLS_CHARACTERSET is UTF-8.

I tried to insert some unicode characters like that was mentioned in nchar, nvarchar datatype fields. It is inserting someother ascii charachter instead of the unicode character given above.

Please Give me a solution
