Hypervisor Installation on VirtualBox

user8838353Aug 11 2016 — edited Aug 14 2016

Hi !

Trying to improve my knowledge with Hypervisor, so I had a first try installing on VirtualBox (ver.5). But, It failed. Not sure what wrong I was doing.

I would be more than happy if anyone guide with some hints, so that I can try further.

So, I had this first idea :

- Created a Virtual disk of type VHD of type SCSI (considering this disk as Baremetal)

- VM type : Other  (normally what we select OL etc so I selected 'Other'),  and 'Hyper' (tried also with 'Default')

- Network Adapter : tried with NAT and Bridge

- Guest Additions : No chance to install as there is no VM running

But, the Hypervisor that I used here is VMware ESX

Because I use only Oracle VirtualBox for my learning I tried it on VirtualBox.

I understand it could be possible to do such install on Virtual HardDisk, but I 'm doing something wrong. Am I correct?

Do I need to install such Hypervisor, ESX,  in a Guest VM, such as Windows Server ?

Any suggestion will be much useful. I did google first, but I did not get any info or may be I did not hit the right link.

If any link is there it would also serve better to proceed further

Thanking you,
