Hyperion Planning - SmartView connection error in excel

917659Feb 17 2012 — edited Mar 3 2012
Hi All,

We are using Hyperion Planning version 9x. We have added dimension members and created a dataform with those dimensions in Hyperion Workspace. Now we are trying to insert data in the dataform through Excel Smart view. We have installed smart view add in for office through the following step,

In workspace, Tools --> Install --> SmartView
It has successfully installed the smart view for office. When trying to create the connection from Excel through connection manager we are facing some issues. We followed all steps exactly that is mentioned in the below document.

http://www.dartmouth.edu/~budget/docs/Hyperion_Planning_user_manual.pdf

But it is throwing the following error,

Cannot connect to the provider. Make sure it is running in the specified host /port. Error (12157)

We tried both in Office 2010 and 2007, however the error is same.

Our Hyperion Planning link is,
http://localhost:9300//HyperionPlanning/

When trying to access the smart view in Web browser with the following link (http://localhost:9300//HyperionPlanning/SmartView) as mentioned in the above document. We are getting some XML script as shown below,

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes" ?>
- <exception errcode="10005" type="error">
<desc>Not a valid XML</desc>
</exception>

We are new to Hyperion Planning. Please suggest us the required components/applications to be installed before starting the Hyperion planning training. Is there something we missed to install for Smart View?

When we checked the other related forum threads, they were saying something about APS (refer 1092572 what is APS for ?

It would be really helpful if someone could explain the process behind this smart view installation and connection configuration.

Thanks
Hyperion Planning Team
