Probably a pretty wild question for this group, but need to start somewhere.

I work in financial reporting for an organization. I've inherited a financial reporting system established by people who are no longer here. What I have is Hyperion Performance Suite Release 8.3 (Hyperion).

We use Hyperion for data queries and preparing financial statements. Queries work great, preparing financial reports and formatting, subtotally, mapping seems way to cumbersome. So, I'm thinking what I have is a query tool and not a financial statement preparation tool.

So, first question, is what I have (Hyperion Performance Suite Release 8.3) designed for preparing financial statements?

How old is Release 8.3?

If this product is designed for financial preparation, can anybody direct me to a good reference source?
