Hyperion DRM Version upgrade from 11.1.2.3 to 11.2.8

Hi All,
We are planning for an DRM upgrade from 11.1.2.3. to 11.2.8. We have a project upgrade Hyperion 11.1.2.3 to version 11.2.8. Customer has DRM for mapping data loads from Planning applications.
An Oracle Support Engineer recommended me to migrate from version 11.1.2.3.503 to passing through version 11.1.2.4 before 11.2.8.0. Is this mandatory or the best way?
Please, provide some pointers and documentation to upgrade and migrate objects from old DRM to new DRM.
