Hyperion audit trail - customizable and impact on performance?

In my company, Hyperion version 11.1.2 is being used for financial consolidation and reporting.
As of now there are no audit trail / log available to record specific activities such as submitting data through input forms etc..
I am being told that in this instance of Hyperion there is no way to "turn on" logs without turning on every single log and therefore impacting performances of the application.
I just wanted to check if this was a true statement and if there was any kind of workaround.
