Hyper-V virtual machine to Oracle VM

Janne MFeb 16 2014 — edited Feb 27 2014

Hello to everybody!

I have existing Microsoft Hyper-V Cluster infrastructure and I'm currently building Oracle VM as secondary virtualization system. In Hyper-V I have multiple existing serversĀ  which I would like to move to the Oracle VM but I have not found a way to convert virtual machines or the Hyper-V VHD-files to Oracle VM.

I have read that importing Hyper-V machine should be possible and Oracle VM should do the Hyper-V -> Oracle VM conversion automatically but I do not know if this is the case, there is not much info available about this. I have not tried yet to import whole Hyper-V VM with exported configuration but I have tried to import the single VHD-file via FTP to the Oracle VM repository but it did not work; I could not boot from the imported VHD-file or if I connect the VHD to any existing virtual machine, the disk is empty and missing partition etc (which of course prevents booting).

Is there a way or tool to convert VHD file to Oracle VM compatible format?

Regards,

Janne
