HttpSessionBindingListener valueUnbound not called on session timeout

I have setup an HttpSessionBindingListener, and while it is called when I specifically invalidate a session, it is not called when the user's session timeouts due to reaching the max idle. Is there a patch or a workaround available? I am using IWS 6.0SP2.
