HP Insight Manager on Oracle VM Server
We are an HP shop, and are in the midst of trying to get Oracle VM working.
We run purely Linux based servers/guests.
With each HP Linux server this is a piece of software called HP Insight Manager that gives you details of the Hardware in the machine. It can also be configured if a failure occurs, such as a DIMM goes out, a battery on an HBA goes out, if a Redundant Power Supply fails or turns off, or even an internal disk has issues.
All of these types of failures could be emailed to us after we configured the SMTP server and email address to send it to.
Now with OVM server at the root of the physical host. I probably can not install that, or was wondering if anyone did.
Also how might that work at the guest level? I have not tried that yet, but I would assume it would see fake memory and CPUs and only the stuff presented to that guest as opposed to the whole machine.
It is nice to know that a failure occurs simply be being sent an email.
How are other institutions handling this type of hardware failures that might occur when running OVM server on the bare metal?
