How to write a CALENDAR program in Java?

I got a task from my teacher to do a CALENDAR, a year calendar. But I have no idea how to start.
Could you please tell me what should I do? and How to write the Calendar code in Java?
What do I need in the calendar? I need a year calendar that always have to show the present month, name of month and year.
And the present date should be mark in Red colour. The next and previous buttons are used to change to next or previous month.
Here is an example of the calendar interface that I need.
