APEX

HI ALL,
I have one problem in sending a mail from interactive report i.e action ->download ->email option
when ever i send a mail by using this option i get the error as smtp permanant error isssue starttls command first
I m using smtp.gmail.com as my smtp server so any one tell me how can issue the starttls command from apex
i search on google i was trying to solve this problem from last three days pls give some light on this
