How to update the first 4 digit of sal column

suppose I have emp table
with column empno, ename, sal


EMPNO ENAME SAL
7369 SMITH 123800
7499 ALLEN 160000
7521 WARD 125000
7566 JONES 297500
7654 MARTIN 125000
7698 BLAKE 285000
7782 CLARK 245000
7788 SCOTT 300000
7839 KING 500000
7844 TURNER 150000
7876 ADAMS 110000
7900 JAMES 95000
7902 FORD 300000
7934 MILLER 130000


My question is how to update the first 4 digit of sal eg 123800 output 234500
