How to update files metadata in bulk

azielaOct 16 2016 — edited Oct 20 2016

Hi All,

I have million of existing file that I need to update the metadata. How can I do that in WCC? I notice in this note, https://blogs.oracle.com/kyle/entry/mass_metadata_updates_with_folders  it stated "While a propagation on a regular folder will update all of the items within that folder, a Query Folder propagation will only update the first 50 items.  So you may need to run it multiple times depending on the size...In my case, it is not suitable to use Query Folder as it only update first 50 items.

My questions are:

1. If I propagate using regular folder, should I propagate one by one folder and select Propagate since it may hundreds of folders in WCC that store the existing file.

2. I want to update CategoryID=Default. However, the files with updated metadata are mix up with the file that have no updated yet and there are hundreds number of folders. In this kind of case, how can I update the existing file and skip or exclude the files that already updated? Is it suitable if I use regular folder to propagate it?

Appreciate your advice on this. Thanks.
