how to turn on verbosity

I wrote a small windows forms application that hosts a autovue active X control. When I try to load a .dgn file I get this:

turn on verbosity and check log
com.cimmetry.core.VueRemoteException: Unable to open connection

How do I turn on verbosity and where is the log that I should check?
