Reading the doc it appears this involves setting a few parameters in sqlnet.ora, but
1) is this correct?
2) if so, can anyone details what's required that I'm not doing, as explained here?

I'm expanding the scope of the audience for my question, as I'm not sure my failure to get a trace file generated from my OCI program is strictly related to Instant Client.
What I'm trying to get is a
client-side trace file, not a server-side one, as one would get by issuing
alter session set sql_trace=true;
alter session set timed_statistics=true;
(as far as I know).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, --DD
