how to take compressed export backup

kumarskNov 12 2010 — edited Nov 16 2010
Hi,

My database version is 10gR2 and the OS is AIX 5.2.

Daily i am taking export backup of the database and the dumpfile size is coming to 150 GB.We are running out of mount point available free space.

We are trying to take the compressed export backup.
I know only exp utility COMPRESSION parameter and it's default enable value is Metadata_Only.I hope even if we not include this compression parameter in exp Utility , exp will take database export in compressed mode , right?.

1) Is there any other ways/types to take compressed export backup ?.

2) If we take compressed export backup , shall we have to uncompress this while trying to import the same?.

3) How can we take rman compressed disk/file backup in similar way?.

Please help me.

Thanks,
Sunand
