How to stop auto page refreshing

Hi,

The application has multiple tabs. Every time i navigate to a tab the pages on that tab are automatically refreshed (query is excuted). This effects the performance of the system.

Is it possible to stop page refreshing during navigation of tabs and refresh the page on demand?
