How to show an confirm alert before leaving a page via any exit route

PPlattApr 3 2014 — edited Apr 5 2014

APEX V4.2.3

DB 11.2 EE

APEX Listener V2.0.5.287.04.27

Theme 13 Blue Gray

IE9.0.8112

FF28.0

I want to show a confirm alert when a user leaves a given page through any exit route (buttons, links, breadcrumbs, tabs, browser backarrow key) and in the message ask them if they have completed a given task.  If they choose OK then they can leave the page and if they choose cancel to I want to freeze them on the page.

NOTE that the "Page Unload" DA event DOES NOT work correctly in Firefox (prefered browser) and also does not freeze the user on the current page when cancel is chosen . Does anyone have a solution for this?

much appreciated

thanks in advance
