How to send emails with attachments from PL/SQL ???

I have a requirement to send emails with attachments, they will be '.csv' and '.pdf' files and I need to send them from an Oracle 8i database. We currently have functionality that sends basic emails using UTL_SMTP but I dont beleive this will support sending csv and pdf attachments. Can anyone recommend a way of doing this or does anyone have any experience in this area that may help ?
