how to save hire_date in database as DateTime format.

Hi Experts,

JDev 11.1.1.4.0

Oracle XE 10g.

I have a hire_date column it should save in as today's "Date HH:MM:SS" in database. How should I achieve this.In database hire_date is not showing only Date in DDMMYYYY.
