How to run a Java Application in J2EE

843833May 11 2004 — edited May 11 2004
Hi guys,

I've just installed J2EE 1.4 (the all-in-one bundle) in my Windows XP PC.
I've been able to run some JSP example applications.
But don't know how to run a java applet or a java application...

The J2EE has been installed in C:\Sun\AppServer.
Below this directory I have the bin directory with bat files and a dll for the JSP and Enterprise Applications.

I also have the directory C:\Sun\AppServer\jdk\bin where the J2SE exe and dll are (like appletviewer.exe, jar.exe, javac.exe, etc.).

However my java applications & applets don't execute.

Example:
C:\Program Files\Xpto>java -jar Xpto.jar
throws a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in java/util/logging/Level. It seems it can't find this Level class.

This worked OK when I had J2SE 1.4.2 installed this morning.

Can I operate a Java EE application, like a bunch of JSP pages and a Java application and a applet in my PC with J2EE ?
Or do I have to do some J2EE stuff for an application and applet to be able to run ?

I would also appreciate if a link to some useful tutorial/documentation regarding this issue is provided.

Thanks for your help,
Miguel
