Hi all.
I have a Windows Server hosting an Oracle Database 11g.
Apparently the server has crashed . I don't have many details at this moment. I do not have access to the server now.
I have a series of backups to rely on, raging from cold backups, expdp (Full) and RMAN incremental update.
Assuming the server indeed crashed, the more suitable option would be restoring from RMAN.
Assuming reinstallation of the whole box and the backups are safe (they are stored separately on a NAS/SAN). i know i can easily restore from either expdp or cold backup. But the best option would be using RMAN and try restore /recovery.
This scenario is similar to "restore to another server procedure" i've seen on different places. Also on Windows it may be a good idea (or not???) to create a seed database with the same name and the try to restore / recovery.
I can also reproduce the same directory structure.
So excuse me for so many assumptions which may or may not be valid. Once i get to the server i'llĀ diagnose the situation. Anyway under this possible scenario, could anyone recommend an action plan? How different would it be to restoring to another server?
Thanks in advance!!!! appreciated it deeply....!!!!
