how to reset the message input text box in a struts form

Hi, experts,
I am developing a chat room using struts. Now I have one problem. I don't know how to reset the message input box after press enter or the button submit without pressing the reset button in the form. By pressing the reset button, it has too much trouble.I need your help .Your answer will be appreciated very much.
