How to replace & in a Varchar2

abladbJul 1 2014 — edited Jul 1 2014

Hello family,

I would like to translate/replace/convert... what the hell... to take OUT the & from a Varchar2 variable like for the next sentence to work without inserting a value por the &:

SELECT instr('The wall has &number insects','&', ' ') cad from dual

It should appear: 'The wall has number insercts', however I can't get it. I have tried several functions with no result, even to reach its position by instr and to try to substitute its value. No way...

Any solution??

Thanks guys.

I use Oracle 10gR2
