How to recover work from a frozen SQL Developer

PaoloMDec 9 2022

Hi all,
lately I am experiencing a lot of freezes in SQL Developer 22.2 (Version 22.2.1.234.1810 with bundled JDK 11). It seems there is no special action to trigger these freezes as they happen when I leave my SQL Developer open, put my laptop to sleep, wake it from sleep (usually the day after) and just switching to the open SQL Developer triggers the freeze.
In attachment a jstack dump taken today after one of these freezes in case @thatjeffsmith-oracle wants to have a look:
frozen_sqldev.log (60.2 KB)In these occasions, any unsaved work is going to be lost and I am wondering if there is a way to recover a frozen SQL Developer instance to try and save my work.
As a side note, I do not get these freezes with older SQL Developer versions and there is a reason why my main SQL work is still done on SQLDev 4.1.5 (version 4.1.5.21 Build MAIN-21.78). Of course it has its bugs and it lacks the REST helpers (which sometimes I need), but this is actually the most stable version I have ever used and it does not let me down...

Thanks,
Paolo
