Environment: Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris
I have a Production database with a physical standby created and running in our remote data center and this configuration has been running nicely for several years.
I recently had two (2) new mount points added to the Production server but unfortunately did not get them created on the standby server. I don't have the mount points remapped so the layout is identical between Production and the Standby. At least it was.
I created several new data files on the Production server using the new mount points.
Once I realized my error I had the additional mount points created on the Standby server.
I have STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT = AUTO on the Standby but obviously the new data files didn't get created since the mount points were not available when they were added in Production.
Without the mount points, and hence the new data files, on the Standby the archive logs are not being applied on the Standby. There are currently about 150 logs that need to be applied.
Question: Can I copy the existing data files from the Production server to the Standby server and will Data Guard know which archive logs need to be applied to the Standby data files to bring them current with the Production data files?
If not, how do I get the new data files created on the Standby and brought back in synch with Production?
Thanks very much for your help!!!
