How to recover a database when db server media failure, not data disk.

510293Jun 12 2007 — edited Jun 16 2007
Hi all.

I am wondering how to recover a database when db server media failure has occurred, not the media that contains data.
We have a separate storage for data.

When the db server, on which oracle software has installed , has crashed due to the hardware problem, is it possilbe to recover the database in case that the storeage is normal?
(without considering RAC environment, and standby database)

If possible, what backup option is required for that? (ex. offline full backup or online full backup)

if not possible , why?

Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.
