How to Pass DATE Variable as parameter in Procedure?

Hi,

I have created a procedure using date variable as parameter.. While executing the procedure i have given the date in DD-MON-YYYY format.. It's giving an error. In which format i should give the date? What is the default date format ?

Pls. let me know...
