how to pass and get the parameter value from one form to another

hi all,

i am a fresher to the forms world, tried quiet lot to create a parameter list and get the value in to another form. but not happening, if any body can help me , i can add the requirement like below.

from, form one suppose 'dept' block , after executing this blcok i have to pass the 'deptno' value which i have selected to next form ' emp' block, and wanted to display all the employees in this particular department.

how to create this parameter list and how can i get the deptno value in second form ?

please help me.
