How to open ANY file?

Hi @ all,

I want to implement a converter. This converter has to open any (xls, pdf, txt, csv, ...) file. I can't trust the fileextention of the files I get. today I saw a blabla.xls and in fact it wars a txt csv file.

So my question is: Is there anyone with an idea how to find out the real file type?

I hope some1 have an idea. I've got none.
