how to NOT generate a trail file for an EXTRACT process

François DernoncourtMar 4 2014 — edited Mar 6 2014

Greetings

My GG version:

Oracle GoldenGate Command Interpreter for Oracle

Version 11.2.1.0.13 17435036 17737299

AIX 5L, ppc, 64bit (optimized), Oracle 10.2 on Nov 11 2013 12:56:55

I have an EXTRACT  process (among other EXTRACT processes) whose sole purpose is to run a stored procedure on my target database.  As such, it does not require a trail file.  I tried to define /dev/null as an EXTRAIL, but to no avail:

GGSCI 42> ADD EXTTRAIL /dev/null/aa , EXTRACT EDR7SQL

EXTTRAIL added.

2014-03-04 17:52:57  INFOOGG-01478  Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Oracle, edr7sql.prm:  Output file /dev/null/aa is using format RELEASE 11.2.

2014-03-04 17:52:57  ERROR   OGG-01091  Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Oracle, edr7sql.prm:  Unable to open file "/dev/null/aa000000" (error 20, Not a directory).

Would you know of any way to either

  • NOT generate a trail file
  • have that trail file re-directed to /dev/null?
