How to mask varying number in text

How to mask varying number in text.
If any text have any number whose length is greater than or equal to 8 then it is masked as 1st two and last four are exist as same and else are masked with '*' .
EX: 'ABC 123456789, DEF 1234, GHIJ 12345678'
output as "ABC 12***6789, DEF 1234, GHIJ 12**5678"
