How to make a Field Mandatory Using Javascript in Apex

Hi,

Im Using Apex version 4.2

The Requirement is, I Have a field named AUTHORIZATION_DATE. I want to Make this Field Mandatory using Javascript
such that when the User Leaves this field Blank . He wont be able to Submit the page

Any Help will be Greatly Appreciated.
