How to login Oracle 11g using User,Password and SID ?

Dear all,

WE need to check , whether we are able to login the database using SID, USERNAME and PASSWORD , to check everything will work fine in the future.

Please suggest , how can we specify the SID during database login , using SQL PLUS , or any other component.
