How to know which service name .....?!!!!!!!

How to know which service name database does the sql*plus connected.i want to know through commanding sqlplus. i used to DEFINE to know the CONNECT_IDENTIFIER but when i go back nd check my tnsnames the service name was differnt nd now i want connect to SQLDEVELPOER so its asking connection stuff like "Hostname,service name " while iam giving those(sqlplus) service name its showing "Status:Failure execption:The network Adapter could not estabilsh the connection" if this connection cant make up how can i navigate basic emp table from scott user .So i want connection.
please help me on this if any ideas have..
