How to just update/patch packages in Linux 6.8

ajnlim117Nov 20 2019 — edited Nov 21 2019

HI,

I need some guidance and advice.

I have installed Oracle Linux 6.8 in my system and I have the following questions.

(1) How can I perform an update or patch on my Oracle Linux 6.8? As my application is OL dependencies which I need to stay in OL 6.8, how can I just update/patch my installed packages to the latest release but remain in OL 6.8?

(2) In what situation if I do a yum update, it will automatically update to OL 6.9 or OL 6.10? How can I prevent it?

(3) As my machine has no internet access, can someone share with me the best method and procedures to just update the installed packages without upgraded to OL 6.9 or 6.10?

(4) When I go to /repo/OracleLinux/OL6/9/base/x86_64/repodata/, how do I interpret these files and what are they for?

(5) How do I patch up the system using ksplice?

Thanks
