How to integrate APEX with GIT source control system

Basically we are trying to follow similar process that we follow for ADF development process with GIT. We have any existing application in APEX 5.1 that needs to be moved to GIT. We have multiple developers and all the APEX files needs to source controlled in GIT environment. Any pointers and recommended process/docs are appreciated, thanks.
