How to install XE 18c on linux mint

User_DKVA3Nov 29 2020

Hello everyone,
I have tried to install Oracle XE on linux mint but I am struggling and need help please. The download site only seems to have an rpm. Mint is ubuntu-based and so requires a debian package. I've used alien to convert the rpm to a debian package but when I install it I just get a silent install. There's no opportunity to set up an XE database. The installation directory, ORACLE_HOME is present and in the bin directory there are the standard tools such as sqlplus and tnsping. But no clue as to how to start or stop the server or create the XE database. Can anyone help please?
Regards,
Andrew Marlow.
