How to initialize UTL_FILE_DIR parameter?

Hi folks,

Please do help me in initializing UTL_FILE_DIR parameter and also let me know where this parameter resides.
Actually, my problem is when i'm using UTL_FILE package for dumping data into flat file, oracle is throwing an error saying, "invalid path".
I wanted to dump the data into "c:\sample.txt". So, here, how do we do it?
