How to improve the performance of a GROUP BY

Hi,
I have a general question on how do I improve the performance of a GROUP BY clause?

I tried cretaing an Index for the columns used in the GROUP BY clause, but no difference.

I am on 11g and the statement is on a PARTITIONED table (HASH Partitioning).
