How to improve Solaris 10 x86 performance
807557Mar 31 2005 — edited Jun 1 2005Hi! I installed Solaris 10 x86 (s10_72) along with Linux on my notebook. Everything works perfectly, except the sound card, the system seems very solid and coherent, but the main problem is that the perfomance is very poor compared to Linux.
The loading times of applications like Mozilla are very long, and the general feeling of the desktop is slow and uses to freeze when installing packages in the background and stuff like that. This is a Pentium IV 2.8 Ghz with 512 RAM, so it's not a machine that one would expect to be slow.
Are there ways to improve the desktop perfomance of Solaris?
Thank you very much.
